Hello, hello! How are you today? I hope you have eaten your rice already! You know, nowadays the young people always say they are too busy to cook, but I tell my children, if you don't cook at home, how can you stay healthy? Today I want to show you something very special and very cute. You see, when I go to the wet market and see the fresh vegetables, I always think of how to make them look interesting so the grandchildren will actually finish their plates. We are going to make some "dinosaur" themed dishes today because everyone loves these big lizards, and it makes the food taste much better when it looks like a friend, right? Don't worry, these recipes are very simple, no need to be a professional chef to make your family happy!

The Red Garden Tomato Dinosaur

Aiya, look at this! This is what I call a "Tomato Dinosaur." It is so bright and red, just like the lucky colors we love. Usually, children hate eating raw tomatoes because they think it is too sour or too slimy, but if you tell them it is a special dinosaur from the prehistoric jungle, they will eat the whole thing in one bite! This dish is very cooling for the body, especially when the weather is so humid and hot outside. You must find the firmest tomatoes at the store—don't get the soft ones or they will collapse like a tired old man. We want them bouncy and full of life!

Ingredients for Tomato Dinosaur

• 2 large, firm beefsteak tomatoes (the redder the better!)
• 1 small cucumber for the "scales" and "tail"
• A few slices of white cheese or hard-boiled egg whites for the eyes
• Black sesame seeds (very important for the eyes!)
• 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce mixed with a drop of sesame oil
• A pinch of sugar to balance the sourness

Cooking Instructions

1. First, wash your tomatoes very carefully. We don't want any dirt! Pat them dry with a clean towel.
2. Cut a small slice off the bottom of the tomato so it can stand up straight on the plate. Don't throw that slice away! You can eat it or dice it up for a soup later. Waste is a sin!
3. Use a small, sharp knife to carve a mouth shape into the front of the tomato. Be very gentle, don't press too hard.
4. Cut your cucumber into small triangles to make the plates on the dinosaur's back. Carefully poke small slits into the top of the tomato and slide the cucumber triangles in.
5. For the eyes, use a straw to punch out small circles from the cheese or egg white. Stick a black sesame seed in the middle using a tiny bit of honey or syrup.
6. Drizzle your soy sauce and sesame oil mixture around the base of the dinosaur like a little pond. Serve it cold and watch the kids smile!

The Golden Prehistoric Omelet

Now, if your kids are still hungry, you need to give them some protein! Eggs are the best because they are cheap and so good for the brain. This "Dinosaur Omelet" is inspired by those big prehistoric eggs you see in the movies. When I was young, we didn't have fancy shapes, we just ate what was on the table. But now, we can make it fun! This omelet is fluffy, golden, and has a secret "roar" of flavor because of the fish sauce. If you don't use fish sauce, what are you even doing in the kitchen? It gives that "umami" taste that makes everyone ask for second helpings.

Ingredients for Dinosaur Omelet

• 4 large farm-fresh eggs (room temperature is best, trust me)
• 2 stalks of green onion, chopped very finely
• 1 teaspoon of fish sauce (the good kind from the glass bottle!)
• A dash of white pepper (black pepper is okay, but white pepper is more traditional)
• Half a cup of bean sprouts for a "nest" effect
• A little bit of cornstarch mixed with water (this makes it extra fluffy!)
• Vegetable oil for frying (don't be stingy, or it will stick!)

Cooking Instructions

1. Crack your eggs into a big bowl. Beat them until they are very bubbly. If your arm doesn't hurt a little bit, you haven't beaten them enough!
2. Add your fish sauce, white pepper, and the cornstarch water. Mix it well. This cornstarch is my secret trick—it keeps the omelet from getting flat and sad.
3. Heat your wok or pan until you see a little bit of smoke. Add the oil and swirl it around.
4. Pour the egg mixture in. It should make a loud "SZZZZ" sound! That is the sound of good cooking.
5. Use your spatula to push the edges toward the center so the raw egg flows to the outside. This makes it thick like a giant dinosaur egg.
6. While the middle is still a bit soft, add your chopped green onions. Fold it over carefully.
7. Place a bed of bean sprouts on a plate to look like a nest, and slide your golden omelet right on top. Serve it hot with some steaming white rice. So delicious, your ancestors would be proud!
